Wishing Whale Tail

The title, "Wishing Whale" was inspired from the marine debris and mini bottles containing messages from the community that filled the tail and was unveiled at an Earth Day event that Upsculpt put together with the Southampton Arts Center (SHAC).

The 7 foot tail was built out of Lobster traps found in the Long Island Sound by the Cornell Cooperative Extension Program. Cindy was the resident artist at SHAC for about one month where she created the tail out of steel, derelict lobster traps, marine ropes and plastics. The Wishing Whale will be traveling around the east end of Long Island for educational purposes. She will reside at the South Hampton Art Center through out the summer.
